Jake Arky wears the tri-brimmed hat of an actor, playwright, and co-founder of So Say We All. Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, Jake was theatrically trained at the University of Utah’s Youtheatre Conservatory where he began writing and producing original plays. He’s the two time recipient of the Utah Theater Association’s Best Original Play (The Copyboys Revolt 2003, The Game of Life, Love, and Tragedy, 2004) and the youngest playwright produced in Speaking Ring Theatre Company’s 2003 New Works Festival in Chicago. Jake worked for Big Beach Films during production of Everything Is Illuminated based on the book by Jonathan Safran Foer and the Oscar-winning Little Miss Sunshine. Jake also assisted with the Cherry Lane Theatre’s 2007-2008 season which included the self-directed works by Edward Albee in an evening of “The American Dream/Sandbox.”
Jake was last seen onstage in 2008 in his play My Friend Dahmer, an adaptation of the graphic novel by Derf and produced by First Look Theater Company in New York City and went on to receive a New American Voices honor at the 2009 Great Plains Theater Conference in Omaha. Jake completed his B.F.A. in dramatic writing at New York Univerity’s Tisch School of the Arts before working on the La Jolla Playhouse’s 2008-2009 season. Recently, Jake was named as TheatreWorks’ Young Playwrights Project playwright-in-residence for fall, 2010.
Jake is the co-founder (with Justin Hudnall) of So Say We All.
