Kait Sewell grew up in the DIY culture of Wichita, KS, featured in the documentary Nevermind the Fences. After winning an academic merit based scholarship she attended the Kansas City Art Institute and finished her BFA in Sculpture at Wichita State University, where she was elected as the President of the WSU Sculpture Guild and several officers of the Contemporary Art Society. During her education she became a certified pyrotechnician, provided art direction & production for several music videos, and assisted in the coordination of engaging public discourse at the Ulrich Museum of Contemporary Art and Wichita Center for the Arts. Sewell relocated to San Diego in 2011 and has assisted several local nonprofits in achieving their mission such as the Lux Art Institute and Space 4 Art. Sewell continues to create fine art and maintain a small jewelry line, Resourceful Adornment, as she helps coordinate the growing impact of literary nonprofit So Say We All.
