Nancy Cary

Nancy Cary has lived on the West Coast most of her life and refuses to move more than hour’s drive from the ocean.  She has written personal essays, poetry, and journalism pieces for books, local weekly publications such San Diego City Beat and San Diego Magazine.  Inspiration for her anthology Hunger and Thirst, Food Literature (2008) can be read in her introduction to the work, and other sources of love (and crankiness) can be found on her website and blog at NancyCary.wordpress.com. She is a founding member of San Diego City Works Press.  She loves and believes in being part of community, whether it’s where she works, writes, or lives.   For now, home is about five blocks from the sea in Ocean Beach.  Her motto is borrowed from Ralph Waldo Emerson:  “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air…”
