Our 2018 Long Story Short themes!

Long Story Short offers a populist platform for anyone, and we mean anyone, to join us and tell a story, without notes, for five minutes or less on a different theme every month. No RSVP necessary, just check the schedule for the next event and show up ready to sign-up and share! It’s a great place to come and meet people, with an extraordinarily welcoming environment and supportive people genuinely curious to hear true stories from strangers in their community, whether funny, painful, practiced or off the cuff.

Long Story Short is the third Saturday night of every month, held at The Ink Spot at San Diego Writers, Ink, located in Liberty Station.

Doors: 7:00 P.M.

Long Story Short: Balls, Saturday 2/20

Long Story Short is our monthly improv storytelling night. 5 minute stories, no notes, and anyone can take the stage. “Balls!” is technically our tie-in with the next month’s VAMP: Sports! but we’re pretty sure you might have some, um, non-sports related stories for this theme. Balls, tell us all about ’em.

Sign up when you get there. Or halfway through the show. Or just come to listen!

San Diego, CA 92106

This is an excellent opportunity to get your storytelling feet wet in a fun environment. It’s also an opportunity to flesh out a potential VAMP story on a similar theme to the upcoming submission deadline. The deadline for written story submissions for VAMP: Sports is Sunday, 2/28. So come tell your story, see how it rolls [lol sports analogy, we win], and maybe write it up and try out [lol sports] for VAMP?

Because balls.

Long Story Short: Co-Producer Wanted

Calling all San Diego lovers of stories: we are looking to fill the volunteer role of a co-producer for our monthly improv storytelling show, Long Story Short. You’ll work with our current producer, David Latham, as well as So Say We All’s staff and the very hospitable crew at our host venue, San Diego Writers, Ink.

Long Story Short is every third Saturday of the month, at 7 PM.

We are looking for someone to help perform the following tasks:

  • Arrive early to help set up the event space, and return it to its classroom state at the end of the show (or applicable set-up/tear-down in alternate venues)
  • Maneuver merchandise, and beverages to and from the venue the day of the show, as well as any extra equipment
  • Help manage door donations, merchandise and beverage sales, and the sign-up list
  • Spread the word about Long Story Short
  • Select themes for 2016!

Optional duties that would be rad:

  • Willingness to co-host, if desired
  • Ability to help design theme-specific posters for social media and/or print

This is a volunteer position and we will love you endlessly. Come join us and help other people get their stories out in the world. You are your story.
