Mesa College VAMP: Borders

So Say We All is proud to partner with San Diego Mesa College to present their first VAMP showcase: Borders.

Please join us for a night of storytelling at Mesa College. The selected students spend nearly a month undergoing an intensive critique and coaching process. Their stories are brave and vulnerable portrayals of borders. Life is full of borders: emotional, political, geographic, sexual, cultural, family.

The students participating in this showcases were selected from a large field of student submissions, and then spent a month working intensively with faculty, So Say We All teaching artists, and their co-performers to bring their stories to the stage. They work so hard, and have such amazing stories to tell.

Attention Educators! Teaching storytelling?

Are you an educator interested in teaching storytelling or personal narrative writing, or are you looking to enrich your current curriculum with models of storytelling and live performance?

We’d like to invite you to some upcoming all-ages (though we cannot promise squeaky clean language!) performances through our partnerships with community colleges throughout San Diego. These are great opportunities to come and see live storytelling yourself, bring your teaching colleagues, and/or bring your students and classes!

The students participating in these showcases were selected from large fields of student submissions, and then spent a month working intensively with faculty, So Say We All teaching artists, and their co-performers to bring their stories to the stage. They work so hard, and have such amazing stories to tell.

If you are interested in having So Say We All work with you at your school or college, get in touch with us.

High Tech High Chula Vista: The Power Within

So Say We All’s teaching artists and storytellers have been working with teachers Henry Maxfield and Nuvia Ruland at High Tech High Chula Vista, on a semester-long storytelling and art project.

The students are writing their own stories, revolving around a question: where does my power come from? They are also artistically and biologically representing their power in paintings that will be exhibited.

The stories are stunning, powerful, heartbreaking, and humorous. Witnessing the storytelling power of youth reminds us why we are in the business of stories in the first place. Come hear some of their remarkable stories, and check out their art. Over the course of five evenings, Novo Brazil Brewery in the South Bay will host small groups of performers.
